So today I did a comic about Sesame Street. I used to love that show when I was a kid. I sort of despise how they have gone out of their way to make the show PC for young audiences. Because it was awesome when it was sort of messed up. Everybody thought Big Bird was a liar, Snuffy was manic depressive, Bert and Ernie were… well… you can guess that one. The old guy who ran the corner store died. A homeless monster lives in a trashcan and gives everybody crap. Another monster has a cookie eating addiction. It was awesome. But you know what struck me as the weirdest? Kermit the Frog. He was really the only Muppet to regularly appear on both Sesame Street AND the Muppet Show. It was like his job running The Muppet Show was SO stressful that he had a psychotic break and went to Sesame Street where he became ANOTHER frog named Kermit, one who was a news reporter. Weirdness. I would have loved to have seen a full Muppet crossover. Have the Muppet Show visit Sesame Street so Gonzo and Super Grover could jump off of things together, Waldorf and Statler could insult Elmo until he cried, Oscar could throw rotten tomatos at Fozzy… The possibilities are endless.
